Mateo Kovacic has admitted that he can envisage himself staying at Chelsea FC beyond his loan deal from Real Madrid.
Kovacic arrived at Chelsea FC in the summer transfer window on a season-long deal as part of the same agreement which saw Thibaut Courtois head to Real Madrid.
The Croatia midfielder is now aiming to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge as he bids to help Maurizio Sarri’s men enjoy a successful season.
Chelsea FC have made a flying start to the new campaign and Kovacic will be hoping to play an important role in a successful season for the Blues.
There have inevitably already been some questions about whether Kovacic could end up making his move to Chelsea FC permanent at the end of the season.
And the Real Madrid man has openly admitted that he could see himself staying at Stamford Bridge for the long term.
Speaking to BBC’s Football Focus, Kovacic said: “It is too early and I have to respect my contract with Real Madrid.
“But for now I’m really happy with Chelsea. The city is amazing. The fans are great. The stadium, everything is nice. I could imagine myself [staying] here.”
Chelsea FC will return to League Cup action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Liverpool FC in the third round.
They will then prepare to welcome Liverpool FC to Anfield on Saturday evening as they look to beat the leaders.
