Diogo Dalot is ready to start playing regularly for Manchester United following his summer move to Old Trafford, according to Jose Mourinho.
The 19-year-old has been settling into life at Old Trafford after having signed for the Red Devils from FC Porto on a five-year contract.
Dalot has been out of action with a knee injury in recent weeks but he has since been working on his fitness levels behind the scenes as he looks to try and break into the first team at Old Trafford.
The teenager has been featuring for Manchester United’s Under-23 side in recent weeks and Mourinho feels that Dalot is now ready to fight for a place in the first team.
Speaking at a news conference before Manchester United’s clash with Young Boys in the Champions League, Mourinho said of Dalot: “He played his second match with the Under-23s, he has been training with the group for almost a month, he played 90 minutes a few days ago, we believe he is a strong boy, he is 19 years old, he is fit and we believe he is ready.”
Manchester United will now switch their focus back towards Premier League affairs and their home clash against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils are aiming to make it three wins in a row in the top flight for the first time this season as they look to try and establish themselves as one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this term.
