Roberto Firmino has taken to social media to reassure Liverpool FC fans that he is OK after he suffered an eye injury during the Reds’ 2-1 win at Tottenham on Saturday.
The Brazil international was forced off at Wembley on Saturday after Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen unintentionally gauged his left eye.
Firmino was taken to a London hospital after the game but he was discharged later that afternoon after it was confirmed that he suffered no lasting damage.
It now remains to be seen whether Firmino will be ready to feature for Liverpool FC when they kick off their Champions League group stage campaign with a home clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
But the player himself took to social media to deliver a positive update on his situation on Saturday evening.
Firmino posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “It was just a scare, my eye is ok and so am I. Thank you for all the support and see you soon #YNWA.”
Liverpool FC are aiming to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this season and they have won all five of their top-flight games so far this term.
The Reds are aiming to win their first trophy under Jurgen Klopp following his appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.
