Manchester United are interested in a deal to sign Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil in the January transfer window, according to a report in England.
The Daily Express is reporting that the Red Devils are monitoring the former Germany international’s situation at Arsenal under new boss Unai Emery.
The same article states that Jose Mourinho has been keeping tabs on Ozil over the past 12 months despite the Gunners star committing to a new deal.
According to the same story, Manchester United could launch an audacious bid in the January transfer window if Ozil’s situation at Arsenal should change.
Arsene Wenger’s replacement Emery has challenged Ozil to improve his performances after the World Cup winner signed a new £350,000 a week in February.
Ozil has scored one goal in four appearances in the Premier League so far this season but Emery is demanding for more from the club’s best paid player.
Arsenal were 2-1 winners against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday to record successive victories for the first time under Emery.
The Gunners are in seventh place and six points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea FC after five games.
The north London side signed five players in the summer transfer window.
