Alan Shearer has admitted that he is “worried” about Liverpool FC’s strong start to the season – because the Reds have not hit top gear yet.
The Reds continued their 100 per cent start to the new campaign on Saturday afternoon when they claimed a 2-1 win at Tottenham to keep their joint spot at the top of the table.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have been earning lots of praise for their solid performances this term as they look to try and establish themselves as one of the main contenders for the Premier League title.
Liverpool FC are still looking to win their first trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in the autumn of 2015.
Former Newcastle United star Shearer has been hugely impressed by what he’s seen from the Reds this term, and he claims that the rest of the Premier League should be concerned about the fact the they haven’t yet hit top gear.
Speaking on Match of the Day on Saturday evening, Shearer said: “Liverpool definitely deserved it but the worrying thing is they weren’t even at their best. If they had been, they could have probably scored six or seven.
“They should have had a field day because their pressing at times was excellent and they pressured Tottenham into making mistakes.”
Next up for Liverpool FC is their Champions League group stage opener against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night at Anfield.
The Reds are looking to go one step further this season after they reached the final but lost to Real Madrid last term.
