Liverpool FC winger Xherdan Shaqiri insists that the team will be striving to win silverware this season after a great start to the campaign.
Four wins out of their first four games earned Liverpool FC a place at the top of the table as they bid to dethrone current champions Manchester City in May.
Pep Guardiola’s men won the title at a canter last term, 19 points ahead of their closest rivals Manchester United.
Liverpool FC had to make do with a fourth-place finish, but they did also manage to reach the final of the Champions League, where they ultimately lost out 3-1 against Real Madrid.
Jurgen Klopp has come very close to winning trophies during his time at Anfield, losing three major finals, but after bringing in four new players this summer he is expected to take a huge step forward this season.
One of the players in question was Shaqiri, who signed from Stoke City during the transfer window and has so far been restricted to just two substitute appearances over the last month.
Despite having yet to start for his new club, the Swiss international has outlined his ambitions with Liverpool, insisting they will be challenging on all fronts for success.
He told Metro Sport: “Liverpool are one of the biggest teams in the world. Last year they had a very good year.
“Sadly they didn’t win a title but now we try to make a step forward and try to win titles. That’s the most important thing now, to be our goals. To win titles.”
Liverpool FC will kick off their Champions League group stage campaign when they host Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield on Tuesday night in their opener.
The Reds reached the Champions League final last term and so will be aiming to try and go one step further this year.
