Arsenal have made contact with the representatives of Lille star Nicolas Pepe, according to reports in France.
French outlet Le10Sport, as quoted by talkSPORT, is reporting that the Gunners are pressing ahead with their interest in signing the 23-year-old ahead of the January transfer window.
The forward was in impressive form for Lille last season as he scored 13 goals in the French top flight last term.
According to the same report, a host of Europe’s top clubs are keeping an eye on Pepe as the January transfer window looms large.
But the same story says that Arsenal have tried to steal a march on their rivals by contacting the player’s agent in the lead up to the mid-season transfer window.
The same article says that the Ivory Coast international is valued at around £30m – and Arsenal are hoping to tie up a deal to bring him to The Emirates in January.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are currently getting used to life under new manager Unai Emery following his appointment at The Emirates back in May.
Emery has been tasked with steering Arsenal back into the top four this season at the very least after the Gunners finished in sixth place and without a trophy under Arsene Wenger last term.
