Former Tottenham striker Jermaine Defore believes that Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should start together for Arsenal more often after Sunday’s 3-2 win against Cardiff.
The two strikers managed to get their names on the scoresheet against Neil Warnock’s side after Shkodran Mustafi initially opened the scoring for Arsenal.
Unai Emery saw his team pegged back twice in the match before Lacazette eventually fired home the winner and his telepathic understanding with Aubamayang would have been the highlight of the game for supporters.
Sky Sports pundit Defore suggested post-match that the two hit-men should definitely start alongside each other on a more regular basis, given the fact that they are two of the most talented players in the squad.
He told Sky Sports: “At the end of the day, you want to try to get your best players on the pitch.
“They’re sharp, they make things happen and they score goals. Aubameyang’s finish [against Cardiff] was brilliant, like a Thierry Henry finish.
“Lacazette is sharp, stays around the box and you saw his quality with his winning goal.”
After the international break, Arsenal FC will resume their Premier League campaign at St James’ Park against Newcastle United, which will be another tough game for the team.
However, after losing their opening two games against Manchester City and Chelsea, Emery’s men have already started to turn their fortunes around with back-to-back wins, which should see them installed as favourites for the trip up North in two weeks time.
