When does the Scottish transfer window close?

The Scottish transfer window opened on Saturday, June 9 – later than the Premier League which opened on Thursday, May 17.

FIFA rules state that there must be a 12-week window for deals to be done which means that the Scottish transfer window will shut on the traditional day – Friday, August 31.

The Premier League voted to open the transfer window early so that deals could be finalised before the start of the season – ie. Friday.

Does this mean Scottish teams can still buy players after the Premier League deadline finishes?

With the Scottish window still being open, clubs can buy players from the Premier League and English football league sides.

Clubs in the Premier League can still sell players, they just cannot buy them.

What is deadline day for other European leagues?

Spain, France and Germany will see their transfer windows close on the same day as Scotland – August 31.

Italy shut their transfer window on August 18 – one day before the start of the Serie A season.
