A MAGALUF shop owner has said he is lucky to be alive after a brutal beating by three British teenage holidaymakers last week.
Haojie Shang, 25, was attacked after trying to stop one of the 17-year-olds stealing sunglasses as he walked by his store in the Majorcan party resort.
He told a local newspaper how the tourist threw a drink in his face before knocking him to the ground last Wednesday.
They then kicked and punched repeatedly as he tried to protect himself, Shang claimed.
Bouncers at a nearby bar rushed to his aid and held the youngsters before police arrived to arrest them.
Haojie needed hospital treatment for his injuries but is now back at work.
He told Diario de Mallorca the beating occurred after he confronted one of three youngsters he caught thieving as he was putting drinks and ice in the fridge.
Recalling how the teenager reacted with violence instead of dropping the stolen merchandise as most thieves normally do, he said: “He threw the liquid from the drink into my face and eyes.
“I couldn’t see and he began to hit me round the head. I fell to the floor and continued to receive kicks and punches while I tried to protect myself.”
He went on to say the beating lasted for around half a minute and the aggressors attacked his elderly dad when he tried to intervene before security staff from nearby Crystals Bar raced to their aid.

Shang said: “If they didn’t step in, I don’t know what would have happened.
“I don’t think I would be around to recount this. I’ve been working in Magaluf for four years and nothing like this has ever happened to me.”
Civil Guard officers confirmed three minors had been arrested over the incident and handed over to youth court officials – but said they couldn’t confirm further.
