Liverpool Flop Set for Real Madrid Move As Perez Seeks Ronaldo’s Replacement
Iago Aspas left Anfield Stadium in 2014 after unsuccessful spell during Brendan Rodgers reign at the club.
The Spanish striker was let go by the Reds for just £4.4m as they were desperate to cash-in on his signature due to his unimpressive performances.
Since the player moved to Spanish side Celta Vigo in 2014, he has returned back to blistering form.
His performances for the Spanish side hasn’t gone unnoticed by many clubs as reports claimed that Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui has made move for his signature.
According to Diario Gol, the former Spain national team coach has developed an interest in his compatriot, whom he believes is the best player to replace Cristiano Ronaldo who joined Juventus this month.
The Spanish media further revealed that the Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has reached a £35m agreement with Celta Vigo for Aspas’ signature and the deal could be completed as soon as Friday.
Selling the diminutive striker for such a low price appeared to be Liverpool’s greatest undoing as they failed to give him much chance to prove his worth.
Though the Reds are not regretting their decision to sanction his move to Celta Vigo, they could have made the Spanish club pay a bit higher, considering Aspas quality.
