Labour party leader responds to ‘English irony’ video after it reignites antisemitism furore
Jeremy Corbyn has sought to clarify remarks he made in 2013, when he accused a group of Zionists of having “no sense of English irony”, despite “having lived in this country for a very long time”.
With more than a dozen of his MPs and a number of supporters expressing concerns about the Labour leader’s remarks at a conference five years ago, which re-emerged in a video that came to light on Thursday, Corbyn had been under increasing pressure to apologise.
