ONE of Britain’s most beloved comedians, Lenny Henry, is joining The One Show tonight to talk about his latest project.
The Comic Relief co-founder’s career in entertainment has been so well revered he’s earnt a new show with Sir Trevor McDonald to celebrate his 60th birthday. Here’s the lowdown…
Who’s on the One Show tonight?
Lenny Henry is a 59-year-old British stand-up comedian, actor and writer, who was born Lenworth George Henry.
Lenny was married to fellow comedian Dawn French from 1984-2010, their daughter Billie was born in 1991.
His successful career in the entertainment industry spans over forty years, his first TV appearance was in the New Faces talent show where he won with his impersonation of Stevie Wonder.
His first series of The Lenny Henry Show aired on BBC in 1984 and he also produced and starred in his own five-part online series for BBC called, Conversations with my Wife.
More recently, he’s starred in The Syndicate, and Lenny joined the cast of Broadchurch in May 2016. His documentary Lenny Henry: The Commonwealth Kid aired in April 2018.
A strong purveyor of charity work, he co-founded Comic Relief, and he also does work for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. He received a knighthood in the 2015 Queen’s birthday honours.

Each night the presenters mix interviews with an array of celebrity guests with an eclectic mix of topics ranging from current affairs to pop culture.
It is then available on demand on the BBC iPlayer.
Can I be in The One Show audience?
Unfortunately, the One Show is not listed among the BBC shows you can apply for tickets for.
So viewers will just have to get their fix from their sofas.

The magazine-style show has been running for over a decade. The first episode was aired on August 14 2006.
Chris Evans oversaw the Friday night hour-long episodes from 2010 to 2015.
