Xherdan Shaqiri has said he and his Liverpool FC are looking forward to their clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday.
Table-toppers Liverpool FC have won all their games this season and sit three points ahead of their opponents, who lost at Watford last time out.
Shaqiri hopes his team perform well and set the bar high for their uncompromising upcoming fixtures in the Premier League, League Cup and Champions League.
He told Sky Sports: “I’m looking forward to the game [against Tottenham], especially now [because] in the next few weeks we have a lot of games, a lot of good games, difficult games.
“But we will try to keep our good performances and I hope we can win a lot of games.
“We train hard every day. You can see that there is a lot of quality in our team and we are hard-working every day.
“And competition in football is also good for the players.”
After visiting Tottenham, Liverpool FC welcome Paris Saint-Germain to Anfield in the first Champions League group stage game, before playing Southampton at home four days later.
They then host Chelsea FC in the league cup, before travelling to Stamford Bridge to face the Blues in the Premier League.
At the start of October, they travel to Italy and the Stadio San Paulo to face Napoli before travelling home to meet champions’ Manchester City at Anfield.
Their upcoming fixture list is undoubtedly one of the toughest seen for an English side for a long time, but Shaqiri insists they are not cowering in face of the daunting month ahead of them.
Instead, his side are relishing the chance to be part of so many high-profile games in which they could really outline their title credentials.
After finishing 25 points behind champions’ City last season, consistency is key to a Liverpool FC challenge this year, and what better opportunity than the next month to show the rest of the league how far they have come.
