When were Spurs meant to move into the new stadium?

Tottenham were expected to play their first game at the new Tottenham stadium on Saturday, September 15 when they meet Liverpool.

This game has now been moved to Wembley along with their home game against Cardiff on October 6.

The changes in the stadium opening also mean that their first Champions League home match which will either be on 18/19 September or 2/3 October will also be played at the national stadium.

Why has it been delayed and when is the new move date?

A new move date has not been confirmed yet but the Manchester City game on October 28 is currently scheduled with the venue”unconfirmed”.

A club statement read: “Recent testing and commissioning has now shown issues with the critical safety systems.

“We are reviewing the situation and planned timetable to rectify and re-test, after which we shall be in a better position to outline a revised timetable.

“The delays created by these difficulties mean that we can no longer hold the necessary test events on 27 August and 1 September. These will need to be rescheduled to take place ahead of any first official match at the new stadium in order to achieve the safety licence.”

Will Tottenham play at Wembley if they are drawn at home in the Carabao Cup?

The second round of the Carabao Cup takes place this week with the third round draw being held on Thursday, August 30.

Tottenham enter this season’s competition in the third round due to their European involvement but the EFL have already announced what could happen if they are drawn as the home team.

An EFL spokesman said: “If required, the rules of the Carabao Cup provide for the Board of the EFL to consider requests to reverse fixtures or for matches to be played at a neutral venue.

“Any decision to grant dispensation takes into account all relevant circumstances facing a Club at the time the fixture is scheduled to take place.”

This means that even if Spurs are drawn at home, the game can be reversed to play at their opponent’s stadium.

A compensation fee could also be agreed.

Has the NFL game between Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders been moved to Wembley?

Tottenham were originally meant to host the first of the three NFL London games for 2018.

Due to the set backs in the stadium, it has now been announced that the game has been moved to Wembley – the same place as the Tennessee Titans vs LA Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles vs Jacksonville Jaguars.

It will be held on Sunday, October 14 with kick-off starting at 6pm.

Those fans who booked tickets for the game at the new Tottenham stadium will have a priority window for purchasing tickets.

Wembley season ticket holders will also have an option to add it to their existing season ticket.
